Hello autumn! This apple crumble pie has a deliciously crunchy crumble, even though we used plant-based butter. A great option for serving a vegan pie! If you have many guests, you can easily double this recipe and bake the pie on a baking sheet. You can then keep it a bit flatter. The nuts provide an extra delicious crunch, but you can also omit them.
The second time I baked the pie, I didn't have enough flour for the crumble, so I replaced the flour with oatmeal flakes. Just use the same amount. It works perfectly fine and gives a nice granola-like texture. The cardamom gives this pie a special fresh touch. Not a fan of cardamom? You can certainly leave it out. With just cinnamon (or perhaps a little ginger powder for extra spice), this pie is also delicious.
